Finishing a Mossy Terrain Board With an Oil Wash
Quick update showing off the terrain board after the oil wash dried—rich earth tones ready for gaming.
The steps
Get the moss and texture work finished and fully dry before the oil goes anywhere near it.
Thin the oil hard with mineral spirits and work it into the recesses rather than flooding the surface.
Pull the excess back off while it is still wet, leaving it in the low points.
Leave it a full day. Oil is touch-dry long before it is actually dry, and anything you do in between will lift it.

See, we get a bunch of very rich earth—fertile for our imaginations.
