3D Printing KDM Terrain
A quick update on 3D printing Kingdom Death Monster terrain pieces, including a custom butcher base and encounter terrain.
The steps
Print the terrain in batches. It takes far longer than the painting time it unlocks, so start it before you sit down to paint.
Cure it properly. Rushing the cure is what leaves a piece tacky and soft, and you will only find out once you handle it.
Put it back in the curing machine if it still feels rushed. There is no downside to a second pass.
Sand the edges outside, wearing a mask. Cured resin dust is not something to breathe.
Kingdom Death terrain prints well, and printing a table’s worth of it is mostly a scheduling problem rather than a hobby one. A plate takes hours you are not painting in, so it wants starting before you sit down rather than instead of.
The part worth getting right is the cure. Rushing it leaves a piece that looks finished and is still soft, and you find that out when you handle it or when paint refuses to sit on it. Putting a piece back in the curing machine for another pass costs nothing.
The butcher base here is a free file — search “butcher base” and it comes up. It needed sanding around one edge, which is an outdoors job with a mask on.

Got this sick base for the butcher. I need to cure it a little bit more—I definitely rushed the curing process. I’ve still got to clean it up some. I was trying to rush it in time for the video, but it’s just too late.
I’ve got everything set up for the butcher, but it’s going to have to happen tomorrow since it’s super late. All I was really able to do today is get some 3D printing done, which actually takes quite a bit of time on top of my 15 minutes of painting.

I’m happy with how this turned out. Once I paint it, I’ll put more info on where to find the file and everything. If you just search for “butcher base,” you’ll find it. I’m definitely going to put this back in the curing machine.
Wrapping Up
Today I finished most of the Kingdom Death terrain—some of it’s over there. I got it all done and got the base for the butcher finished. It got a little weird around the edge, so I’ve got to sand that down, probably outside with a mask on.
Going to let all this finish drying off and get it cured. But I think that’s it for today—it ended up being a pretty big family day again. Thanks for watching.
