How to Build a 16x16 Necropolis Board

Hey, I’m Matt. Welcome to the Hobby Nomicon. Today, we’re starting another board. Hey. Hi.

Uh, so I’ve been sitting on these. I knew I could do something with them. Um, the material is a pain to work with. I got them all like glued together now, but now I’m like, what do I do with them? So, I just had them kind of stashed, but then I was started to search for like games I could actually play.

And man, I still get a haircut. Still didn’t do it. Okay, so I found several games and it’s funny cuz like I ordered the Sun Rat minis and I thought that Sunrot was like you definitely needed multiple people to play it. So I didn’t buy it but upon further research I think you can solo it. Uh so I’m going to go back order Sunrot.

Need a board for that. Going to do Mheim. I don’t have Mheim board. I think I got to do Mheim too down the road. But uh in the media I found a game called Necropolis and I think it used to be called Necropolis 28.

And I don’t know why I’m sitting here when I needed this to be working. But uh it is played it is played on 16 by6 boards. And of course all of these are bigger than 16 or they’re 10 by 10. So I got to cut them. What’s up?

Uh been losing weight. My shirts are loosey goosey. Still got a long way to go. Um, what am I doing? Uh, let’s try a box cutter.

I I think this is probably going to be pretty rough and this video is definitely going to have to be a quick one to uh All right. So, I think what I’ll do is we’ll cut. We’ll just go 1 2 3 4 5 six. We’ll keep six. That’s a little under eight, you know.

Uh, but we’ll figure it out because I I definitely I just want to get the foundation started today cuz I’m going to I really I love boards with like old picture frames around it. So, we’ll definitely frame it in with a cool picture frame. We’ll have to go to the thrift store or something. But if I can get the foundation all set up tonight, we’ll be in a good spot. Okay.

Actually, while I’m cutting this, let me tell you a little bit about Necropolis. So, uh, one I think it’s one dude, uh, I think his name is Peter makes it. He gives it away for free on his Discord. And uh when I was researching it, I saw that it had a solo mode, but the rule book or the PDF that he that is posted on Discord didn’t have it. So I DM’d him and he like immediately replied back to me and was like, “Oh yeah, man.

Uh here you go. Just know it’s like super rough.” And I talked to him for a little bit. Uh I guess this morning, but I think it was probably like night time for for him. Uh was really cool and like talked to me this morning about it.

It was awesome. So definitely go check it out. Uh I will put the link in the description. Uh remember cut a bunch of times never measure. You essentially it is everybody’s undead which I love.

It is a form of uh of skirmish skirmish. It plays in a 16 by6 and he calls it a diorama game because when you’re playing that small it is very much encouraged. This one I got to think a little bit cuz I want that feature in it. um very much encouraged to have welldesigned boards and like take the time to like really have cool terrain and a 16x6 like that’s a very small display board, you know? So, we’re going to do it up.

I’ve been wanting to get back into kind of the beginnings of the channel and you know and like finish up these old projects because in the beginning I was just kind of like I got to do stuff every day. I don’t really have a plan. I don’t really know what I’m doing. I was just kind of project hopping a ton cuz that’s kind of just like what I was doing anyway. And then like October happened and I was working on two armies at the same time and I didn’t finish which cuz I severely underestimated uh trying to paint several hundred models at once now that I have kids.

So we’re going to revisit that at some point. Keep in mind we’re in the garbage stage again where we’re just gluing trash together. But we have our 16 by6 and I think we’re off to a pretty good start. I’m going to put a lot of dirt and on top of this. So like how uh rough the finish is and like some of these got melted a little bit too much.

So looking good. I need to find something to support it in the middle though. Look like even without any terrain yet, this looks pretty sick. Okay, we’re in there. Okay, I thought I had a 16 by6 frame like shadow box already, but it’s 12 x 12, so that’s frustrating.

So, I’m about to put this on pause tonight cuz I got some wood, but I can’t use power tools right now. Everybody’s sleeping. So, I’m going to double check one last time, but this might be it for today. Okay. Yeah.

Uh I’m going to have to get I’m going have to wait till tomorrow so I can use some power tools cuz I’m not going to hacksaw at 11 o’clock at night. So, I’m just going to wait get some sleep. Uh, our guy is our guy is fully cured. Um, I’m gonna do a little bit of work on the back right now and then I’m gonna make his mold cast him, get all that done tonight. Uh, put on a video just cuz it’s like kind of the same thing over and over again.

But then tomorrow I’ll have him I’ll have one primed and we’ll paint him too. So, tomorrow I’ll be necropolis board and hopefully painting this guy some. Thanks for watching. This one’s kind of lame, but uh hey, we’re making progress every day, and that’s the whole point.
