The daily vlog returns

people. A long time no see. Uh it’s been a couple of days since I posted a vlog and I didn’t realize that. So, I’ve been recording stuff. Uh I’ve been doing a lot of actual gaming and I I’ve been recording stuff for other channels.

Um I’m figured out what I’m doing with my life, you know, at least hobbywise. Uh and I just I wanted to start seeing like what I could make if I tried to make real videos. So, on days last couple days, I was just working on these longer formats. I just like I didn’t want to make a vlog because it’s kind of like gonna be part of the cooler video. Uh but I got a lot of stuff I’m working on.

I’m I’m finishing up some loose ends before I dig back into the Ice King commission project. Uh doing a lot of cleaning over my shoulder. I got this off. Uh was playing the game on it earlier testing out some things. Uh but there’s a lot of cool stuff coming that I’m really excited about.

But I want to try and finish a model tonight. So let’s get into it. All right. So I’ve been playing around with this guy. Um he was very fun.

Tanner Simpson, the first Tanner Simpson miniature I have painted. The figure, the model itself, I am 10 out of 10 happy with how he turns out. I’ve been screwing around on this base, just testing things out. Uh, and honestly, tests have been failing. I found a whole bunch of stuff I don’t like, but then I was thinking through some things and I’m shaking some paint.

Uh, so Hexwraith Flame now. And what I was at first I was imagining this guy like beach side on some sholes sunbathing. But then I I was like let me try and do uh not that but like some coral. And then I real was looking at coral and then I realized like coral’s uh not above the water. And so now I have this Hexwraith Flame that I I put these splotches of pink on.

And now I’m gonna do a wash of hexra flame over all of it to try and and pull it back together so it doesn’t look as stark between the pinks and the tangerine. And honestly, I think it’s kind of it’s going to be okay if it looks like an acid dream cuz it’s just kind of a ridiculous model. Um, at this point, I’ve gone back and forth on this base so many times. I think I’ve spent more time on the base than I did the model itself. And I think what we’re going to do is we’re going to put this green on it and we’re going to just call it.

And that’s what it’s going to be. And if I absolutely hate the green, then I don’t know. I’ll probably uh I don’t know. Maybe I’ll do something different. But I think this is going to kind of tie it all together and make it look like the coral I was looking at online.

And then that’s what that’ll be what it is, you know. And I’m going to use this guy. Uh I wasn’t going to use this guy in a teaspoon play or play. Yeah, T playing teaspoon. I don’t know why it’s a teaspoon play.

But I there’s actually another guy uh that I want to paint up and I think I’m going to use him because uh I don’t want to do a whole diorama of like this. Uh so there’s that. But the other guy is a mushroom guy. And I’m looking excited to paint him up like a probably I don’t need a mascara on mushroom because why not? Uh, but then I got some cool ideas for the actual terrarium, but I got to look at the rules.

I know there’s the rules say literally say there’s a way to get fungus monsters, but they’re not in the default generation. So, this looks terrible. Uh, as I was afraid of, and that’s what happens when you’re testing and experimenting. Actually, I don’t know. Does it look terrible?

I think so. I think so. We got a mess on our hand. So, what am I going to do now? Uh, I think I just hit it with with some browns.

It’s going to be a chromatic brown. Uh, and then it’s going to be a land lobster. Is that really what I’m going to do? Cuz I hate how this looks, honestly. Actually, I got an even crazier idea.

I got an even crazier idea. Uh, I’m not going to let it dry. I’m just going to go right over top of it with Tenebas Brown or Tenebrous Grey. The best my new favorite paint. And we’re going to start it over.

And maybe now uh in my head this will be volcanic lava rock. I’m not thinning it. Uh I’m just raw dogging it because now I think I think that’ll be good and it won’t take away from this paint job on my dude that I actually enjoy. And all those colors will be a little bit chromatic on here and not be totally wasted maybe. But I already like how this looks 100 times better.

And now I could see myself doing a diorama of like volcanic stone. Not like active volcano. Like I don’t want to put lava on this [ __ ] thing or on this thing. But I This was a fun one uh that I thought I was going to be fully into the ice cream commission right now, but I got to order some more paint. And it was nice to just like turn my brain off and paint and not really try to like try to do anything with it.

Just see what came out. And blue lobsters are apparently rare. And you know, this little smoochy boy is definitely that high quality, highly coveted lop blue lobster. So, let’s hit it. Hit it good.

not hit the bottom of it. And I uh the way I’m recording this, I’ll probably edit this together because I’ve actually it’s been a couple of days I was painting this guy while working on other things, but I tried to do a full uh tutorial on this blue and the footage just like disappeared. Like I I know I recorded it. I know the camera was recording. Uh, I know.

And it’s just like halfway through the filming it just cut out. Like it’s just gone. There’s a dog howling outside. It’s not my dog doing that. It’s going through the microphone.

It’s kind of kind of creepy, actually. Yeah, I’m already liking this a lot more. And then I’ll probably probably come in with some kind of of other gray to highlight it a little bit. But I’m feeling a lot better about this than what I was trying to do with it before. So, that’s the cool thing about miniature painting is like sometimes it looks like ass and then you just put more paint on it.

Nobody can stop you. I just got some on that tail again. So, now I clean all the paint off the brush. Just going to get it wet and hit it with the eraser. Boom.

Okay, cool. All right, I like this a whole lot more. Got to almost I got to get my heat gun, but rest in peace to the heat gun. I still haven’t fixed it and uh but I still haven’t fixed it. I wasn’t able to fix it.

Uh, it’s beyond my ability. So, I probably frame it because that seems like something cool to have hanging up on the wall. So, I got to get a shadow box for it. But, I also I got to buy a a new got to buy a new heat gun. Uh, actually, I kind of like how the greens up against the wall.

Like maybe algae or something is growing. So, uh, I’m going to blow on this a lot. uh to dry it. But here’s where we are now with our tiny gentleman. Here’s the back.

I don’t know if I got that look. I uh I wanted the back to look more like carropusy. I’ll probably touch that up some cuz it it’s not it almost looks like water marks, but I didn’t like put a wash on it or anything. Uh but while it’s dry and then we’ll go from there. There you go.

Another model finished. Really happy with uh with these. I started with the airbrush, but then I went back in and actually brush painted the those gradients on it. I mean, the airbrushing helped, but that’s all actual brush work for that transition itself, which feels really good. Uh, very happy with him.
