Deathbringer Is Live on BackerKit (And I Just Backed It)
Professor DM's dark-fantasy RPG Deathbringer, EN World's Most Anticipated TTRPG of 2026, has gone live on BackerKit. I just backed it.
It’s happening. Deathbringer, Professor DM’s dark-fantasy TTRPG, has gone live on BackerKit. I didn’t hesitate. I backed it the moment I saw the page go up and did not even read the campaign honestly. I am not even sure how many years we have been waiting for this at this point. To be honest I’m actually not that into chainmail bikinis, but I am very interested in the adventures and the ruleset itself.
Why I’m all in
A few reasons this one hit me square in the chest:
- I’m a huge Runehammer fan. Brandon Gillam of RUNEHAMMER and Professor DM are the two main dungeontubers I watch.
- I’ve been watching Professor DM for years. This is the game he’s been forging at his own table for decades.
- I’m newly, deeply in love with Shadowdark. And here’s the kicker: Deathbringer is fully compatible with Shadowdark and every OSR game, while still playing by its own rules. Everything I’m building on the Shadowdark side drops straight into this.
- Since Roll for Combat is handling it, this is not a project I’m worried will fizzle in fulfilment.
- It looks like this relies heavily on Ultimate Dungeon terrain which I love, and actually just finished making my own board for.
And I’ve got minis on deck
Perfect timing on the hobby side too. I just finished slicing up the Deathbringer miniatures from Westphalia. Files are prepped and heading onto the 3D printer later today. So by the time the book’s in hand hopefully I will have them all painted.
If you’ve been on the fence, the campaign is live now and, as I write this, blowing past its goal by the hour. Go take a look.
