Leather and Browns

Went in with Vallejo Burnt Umber on the leather trim, shoes, and spear shaft. Touched up the back of the shield to make sure all the browns are consistent. Then quick highlights with Serpent Bite Leather on all the straps, pouches, and shoes.

Shield Edge Highlights

Using a size one round brush with a little water, I’m edge highlighting the shield. Looks super bright on camera but it dries toned down. Hitting all the rivets and hard edges. I’ll hit it with more of a wash later—just trying to brighten things up and smooth it out for now.

Gold Buckles

A little bit of gold on all the buckles. Quick and easy.

Blue Fabric Under the Chainmail

There’s just a little bit of fabric peeking out from under the chainmail. Tried a deep turquoise blue, almost using it like a speed paint. It looked good, then looked terrible, then kind of settled into exactly what I was going for. One pass over the janky zenithal and it looks awesome. Probably won’t even highlight it right now—I’ve got a lot of these to do.

Skin Tones

Tried PG Flesh on the face and hands. It’s not going to be the final answer—definitely need to come back in and do more work on the face and hands. But it’s all wet now, so we’re calling it a night. Made a lot of progress though.
