Shoulder pads, Necromunda Maltek Stalker inspiration, and swapping the Disco Lord staff for a Terminator one. The sketch is in.
Where We Are
Added shoulder pads—regular Ogryn shoulder pad kit with the insignia filed off. On one side I cut the whole part out and put another piece in. Sprue-glued them to add texture on the back and beat them up. Gap filled in a few spots.
Also added the other Ogryn foot. Now when he stands flat, the weight of the power fist and mechanical leg is weighing him down, knee bent on the other side. Going to look pretty sick on the base.
The Cost
If you didn’t already have this stuff: Cursed City sprue is expensive, Ogryn kit is like $60, plus the other bits. This conversion is going to be pretty pricey.
Finding the Character
I was trying to figure out what this guy was going to be when I got a gift from the Ice King—a physical copy of a book I’ve loved for a long time but only ever had the PDF.
Page 52: Maltek Stalker. He’s got a chainsword in the back, mechanical leg, power fist. Mine won’t have the Stormbolter thing, but he’s going to have this big old chain staff from the Disco Lord.
Staff Problems
Cut the blade off because the staff was just too thin—didn’t look right. Now I’ve got a Chaos Sorcerer Lord and Terminator staff because this fits a whole lot better.
After a lot of cutting, hacking, and sprue goo, it’s in there. Still a little wet but all pinned up.
The Pose
This is how it’ll look on the base. I’ll have something resting on the base for that staff to go. Tried to take it all the way to the ground but couldn’t get it to work.
Built up the shoulders. The sketch is in. Now it’s just refining. The fur is hardened. He’s telling a story.
Tomorrow I’ll clean this up and get everything primed because the Ice King came through and let me borrow his airbrush.
Transcript
Okay, we’re back with uh probably another midnight kit bash. Um, do we need better lighting? I think we do. Here we go. Here we go.
Let’s see. Okay, so this is where we where we are sitting now. Um, I added some shoulder pads. These are just the regular Augren shoulder pad kits. And I filed off uh the insignia.
On this one, I cut this whole part. Like this one still has the lines in it, but on this side I cut it out and just put another piece in and I have sprew glued them just to add a little bit of texture on the back and beat them up. Um, gap filled here, gap filled there. We’re still going to do a little something here. Uh, but I also added an augur the other augur foot.
So now um when he stands like flat, you can see how it’s like the weight of this power fist and his like mechanical leg is like weighing him down and his like knee is bent on the other side. So it’s going to look pretty sick once it’s on the base. He’s like looking this way. And now this is going to turn into a pretty honestly it already like if you didn’t already have this stuff like curse city spruce pretty expensive the augur kit is like 60 bucks uh her kitten pioneers like this this conversion is going to be pretty expensive but also here is a disco lord staff I was trying to think about what I wanted for his weapon and I was trying to figure out what this guy was even going to be. Uh, and right on time just got this gift from a great friend, the Ice King.
Um, who I have loved this book for a very long time, but I’ve never been able to find a physical copy of it. I have only ever had the PDF. And immediately, I just picked this up today. Immediately, I knew what this guy was going to be. And what he’s going to be is on page 52.
I have it memorized. Maltech Stalker. Uh, and if you can see, he’s got chainsord in the back. So, obviously, this guy is tiny. Uh, but he’s got like the mechanical leg.
Um, we’re not going to have that Stormbbolter like thing, but he’s got this power fist. Uh, but he is going to have this big old chain staff that comes from the Disco Lord. Okay, so I cut the blade off cuz the the staff was just too thin. It didn’t look right. Um, and now I have Chaos Sorcerer Lord and Terminator staff because this just like fits a whole lot better.
So, give me a second here. So, there’s still a little bit of clean up we need to do. Uh, but I think I finally after a lot of cutting, a lot of hacking, and a lot of sprew goo, uh, we’ve got this in there. Uh, and it’s still a little wet. Uh, but I had this all pinned up now.
And I think we’re there. So now like this is it look like this on the base. And I’ll have something resting on the base for that staff to go. I tried to take it all the way to the ground, but I just couldn’t get it to work. You can see I bolt up the shoulders.
Uh, new foot. And I’ll just I’ll clean up some a little bit on the side. But I think we’re there. Like the sketch is in. And now it’s just going to come down to refining.
Um we’ve got our our fur is hardened. Uh but I think our our sketch is in place. We’ve got all the stuff lined up nicely and he he’s telling a story. So uh this will be another midnight conversion. Um tomorrow I’ll clean this up and tomorrow I will get all of this stuff actually primed because uh the Ice King came through and let me borrow his airbrush.
So, uh, thanks for watching. See you tomorrow.
