Al Halden wrote the rules for Ravenfeast in 2010, for his historical miniature wargaming club in Pennsylvania. He believed the best wargaming rules were short, and based the game on a free one-page set called One Page Fantasy Skirmish by John David Slor.

Little Wars TV published Ravenfeast as a free book in 2020, dedicated to his memory.
