Our first Screaming Antelope showdown in Kingdom Death Monster—a blind playthrough with 3D printed terrain, new survivor builds, and a no-casualty victory.
Transcript
The moment we’ve been waiting for is here—we’re finally fighting the Screaming Antelope. I’ve got my AI deck shuffled up with seven basic cards and three advanced cards, plus the trample special card. We’ve got 3D printed terrain set up: acanthus plants, a bug patch, towers, and a survivor corpse pile.
Setup Strategy
I grouped all the acanthus plants together near the antelope’s starting position. The rules for the showdown supersede the card rules, so I don’t have to place them six spaces away. My thinking is that I’d rather have him heal occasionally than chase him around the board and lose whole turns. Maybe it’s a mistake, but we’ll see.
Our new fresh survivor builds are ready: Alexios in full rawhide with the blind beast guitars, Sophia the Strong with her bone club in lion armor, our spear carrier with the cat eye circlet for support, and the unarmored bow carrier with bone darts and the catgut bow.
The Fight
This fight turned out to be more of a chase than a brawl. The antelope kept bolting across the board, grazing on acanthus plants, and our archer could never get the catgut bow in range. But we managed to land hits when it counted.
The cat eye circlet proved invaluable for managing the hit location deck—especially avoiding the trap card. Our guitar player finally got rolling with some critical hits mid-fight, including one that knocked the beast down and another that gave it a persistent injury causing wounds when it moved.
The scariest moments came from the zone of death reflexes and intimidate attacks. Sophia got bounced around quite a bit but held strong. Our bow carrier kept trying bone darts with mixed results—mostly misses, but a key hit helped push through when we needed it.
The Killing Blow
In the final rounds, Sophia pounced in with the bone club and got her fist and tooth weapon proficiency wound—something I was getting nervous about not achieving. Then the guitars finished the job with three hits that took out the last AI cards.
Victory: No Casualties
We killed the antelope with no casualties and no major injuries. We didn’t get a ton of extra resources from crits—terrible luck fishing for those despite having someone who crits on fives—but overall it went pretty well. The fight was easier than the white lion, though I think that’s partly because we did an extra white lion fight in year three.
Rewards and What’s Next
We earned the Stone Circle settlement location, four basic resources, four screaming antelope resources (beast steak, screaming brain, shank bone, bladder), plus a nightmare tick from the vermin draw. Alexios triggered an age event and rolled Strategist as his fighting art—pretty cool since giant stone faces are handy.
I’m going to move future KDM content to a dedicated Kingdom Death channel so this one can get back to being the hobby variety vlog. One more KDM video here, then it moves over.
