Unboxing the brand new Relic Blade plastic kits from Metal King Studio—Battle Pigs, Bone and Darkness, incredible sprue quality, and why you should buy Relic Blade.
Transcript
Got everybody primed and a second dripping wet box arrived. Also picked up Magic, Metal, and Mayhem by Goblin Tom—that art book came back in stock and it’s such a huge source of inspiration. Saving that for its own video.
The Unboxing
These are the new Relic Blade plastic kits that just dropped Friday. Shipped from California to the other coast—I cannot believe they’re already here. Got both Bone and Darkness and the Battle Pigs sets, plus updated cards.
The new Metal Monk sculpt is very cool. The Steel Viper looks amazing. The sprues are incredible—this is that high-quality plastic that the better companies are doing now. Where there would be mold lines, there’s barely any. Some parts don’t even have sprue marks. One quick pass of the back of the X-Acto and you’re done.
What Makes Relic Blade Special
One person does this whole thing. Sean Sutter does all the art, all the game design, all the sculpting, works with the manufacturers on the actual miniature production. He designed these sprues with them.
The box actually has instructions—unlike some companies (looking at you, Steamforge Games). The Battle Pigs set comes with a full booklet, not just assembly instructions. Full scenarios, including Battle of Lava Castle. The art and little drawings are insane.
Custom Touches
He makes his own plastic bases—Metal King Studio branded, not the generic ones we all have hundreds of. The cards are as thick if not thicker than modern Magic cards and feel great in the hand. He draws all the art himself.
The personal sketches in the books are incredible. Every time you buy a book, he does a personal Sharpie sketch inside—not a pre-drawn template, but actually sketching something unique for each order. That’s crazy to me, taking that time.
My Relic Blade Collection
I’ve got the Seekers Handbook, The Vulgue Lands, all the Augur Soul stuff, Curse Breaker from the last Kickstarter, and now the new plastic sets. I’ve got all the foam cut and objectives printed for the solo adventure mode. This is going to be the project that kicks off the next phase of the channel—the first self-contained, non-vlog, featured videos.
If you can look at this and not be amazed, I don’t know what to tell you. Go buy Relic Blade stuff. It’s amazing.
