Hobby Vlog Day 148

/ 3 min read

Day 148 of the hobby streak—3D printing KDM terrain, building the Butcher, unboxing Lego hauls for DnD bases, and a big family day.

Transcript

I’ve got to fix these 3D prints. The pieces broke when I snapped them off the build plate because I didn’t support them—I just printed them directly. The prints actually turned out great; I just broke them. And one ran out of resin, which I knew was going to happen. I was testing it out and honestly I’m surprised they actually printed at all. That’s why I didn’t want to mix my resin in, because I thought it was going to fail for other reasons.

I’m going to put some terrain effects or ground effects on the incomplete one, get the Butcher built, and print the tall grasses I need for the terrain cards I drew.

Fresh Off the Printer

This terrain piece is fresh off the printer—look at how cool it is. Going to let it strip off, wash it, and get it cured.

Building the Butcher

I got the Butcher built. That was a fun build—he actually has a ton of small parts. After I built him, I realized he still goes on a 50mm base even though he’s a little guy. So right now I’ve got a custom base 3D printing for him. I’ll show that off in the next video, but I’m not going to be able to fight him tonight. Today was just a crazy day.

Kingdom Death Art Book

Look what finally made it here. I don’t know if YouTube would get upset if I did a full art flip-through—at any given page there’s probably a ton of stuff that’ll get me in trouble. But it’s finally here.

Lego DnD Haul

The last bit of Lego stuff I was waiting for to make my bases arrived. Bunch of rounds in two colors, different kinds of greenery, and some minifigs they threw in. Including my all-time favorite Lego minifigure since rediscovering Legos—this guy is really cool.

I got a bunch of shrubbery, some Ninjago Ghosts from the Possession season (been watching it with the kids, love these guys), and a pretty rare bad orc figure I got lucky on through Whatnot.

Here’s something interesting: in Europe and Canada, they sell these paper and plastic poly bags with just the minifigures, and they’re super cheap. I finally got one. But disaster struck—it comes with this really cool plastic cape that was sealed in the bag, and the whole cape got cracked through. Not the seller’s fault. I’ll have to find a replacement, but the minifig itself is awesome.

I also got bags of 4x4 plates for making mils plates—basically stacked base plates. It’ll be easier to explain once I make one. These are the last pieces I needed to make the DnD Lego bases look more polished.

Wrapping Up

Not a lot of hobbying on camera today, but a lot going on behind the scenes. The Butcher fight is definitely happening tomorrow—I’m printing a base for him right now. Today was a big family day that wasn’t planned but worked out that way, which is always good.
