Starting My Entry for Children of Gomb

/ 2 min read

Entering the Hobgoblin community hobby challenge—casting a Miscast toad body and planning a full green stuff conversion for my first real sculpting project.

Transcript

Quick one tonight. Hobgoblin has announced a community hobby challenge—the Children of Gomb (or Gome, I’m not sure how to pronounce it). I’ll put the link in the description.

The Challenge

It started yesterday and runs through March 13th. They mention Adepticon, but you submit online through their Discord, so you don’t have to attend. You’re making a horrific mutating monster in all shapes and sizes that fits on a 40x40 up to 100x60 base—the narrow footprint in Hobgoblin.

The important thing is it can be anything. This isn’t a painting contest—it’s a creativity contest. If you don’t have the Hobgoblin rules, they have a free army builder you can use. The rules and cards are also on sale.

Submission is simple: join their Discord, post in the dedicated channel between February 9th and March 13th, and say “final submission.” Judging takes place after, and if you’re going to Adepticon, there’s a narrative event using the submitted models.

My Plan

I’m going to cast another Miscast toad and then convert and sculpt on top of it to make my own spin. I’ve been familiarizing myself with green stuff but haven’t tried to do anything like this yet. This will be my first attempt at building on top of an old miniature to make something totally new.

I personally want to start joining more of these community challenges. Today’s hobby is just casting another toad—you’ve already seen that process. See you tomorrow.
