Working on the purple highlights for Maximus with layered glazes and edge highlights to push the brightness.

Transcript

Coming back in on Maximus again today. Going to try to finish up some of these purples in a couple of spots.

Purple Highlights

Mixing violet with a warm white — this white has a little bit of orange in it, so it’s going to keep the purple highlight desaturated. We’re going to kick this up pretty far.

Got a new camera setup, hoping everybody can see what’s going on.

The approach here is layering at glaze consistency — maybe a little thicker than a true glaze. We’re hitting a bit less area than the last pass. The plan is:

  1. Layer up the purple highlights
  2. Take it one more step brighter
  3. Glaze over that to smooth it out
  4. One final edge highlight round

He’s drying out a bit, so I’m grabbing some more of this white. At this point I can do a little overlapping since we’re definitely at glaze consistency.

On the back part here, I’m grabbing pure white and just edge highlighting the very tip-top edges. One more glaze round after I let all this fully dry and settle — it’s still wet right now.
