Turning the hobby room into a real studio—clean workbench, weekly live stream plans, and laying out the next 60 days of massive projects.
Transcript
My workbench is totally and completely clean. We’re making real progress turning this into a usable, workable studio—which is good because April is going to be a whole new world.
Reclaiming the Bench
Instead of being a shelf for unfinished miniatures, this is now a real workbench. All the stuff that’s been sitting here unused is getting put to work.
Weekly Live Streams
This is why I got it all cleared off—the first Hobby Nomicon live stream is Wednesday. The plan is weekly live streams every Wednesday, and in a dream world, Monday/Wednesday/Friday. We’ll start with Wednesday for sure and work our way up.
The Next 60 Days
A lot is happening between now and the end of May:
- Dusk Army Commission — A full Warmachine army for a client. Pretty close to full FA, skipping the Fantasm colossal and one caster but painting everybody else.
- Infernals Army — Painting my own Infernals army. A whole separate army project running in parallel.
- Smash Bash Competition — May 31st deadline. The new Smash Bash miniatures catalog just arrived and it’s sick. I miss hobby catalogs—glad they’re coming back. Already picked up most of it.
- Infinity Commission — Almost done, should ship in April.
- Studio Cleanup — Pegboard, display cases, and bookshelf are all that’s left.
- Olde and Demon — Deadline March 31st.
- Necromancer 28 Board — Plus gatherings, Gardens of Hecate, Sunrot, and more.
I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out how to do it all. It’s going to involve sitting down and painting a ton every day. Tomorrow I’ll stage out the Dusk Army commission and show my process for approaching a full army commission.
